Golden Delicious flavored liquid

Attempt 1
Liquid Session #1 (7/17/2010)

Attempt 2
Liquid Session #2 (7/17/2010)

I started liquid almost 8 months ago, practicing on and off whenever my schedule would allow it. The video is short and I look stiff because I couldn't get over the nervousness as soon as I turned on the camera. I made a couple of recording attempts to see if I would loosen up.

Critiques are very much welcomed and as well as some advice to get over my nerves.

great clip :D....I couldn't tell you were nervous.....I guess to get over your nerves just spend more time recording yourself....the more you do it the more used to it you'll be..also, you didn't attempt to record yourself dancing....you DID......keep posting...I can't wait to see your progression now!

short clips are a great way to insure you'll get a critique.  I wish I could make myself post shorter clips. but anyway...

WOW! 8 months?!  100% on the right track homeboy!  good shit!  great speed control.  most ppl at your experience level (and some above it) run sloppy and too fast.  Also nice elbow placement.

I think you need to work transitions for your flow to change direction, so that you don't always lead your flow in the same direction.  Have your opposite hand leading the flow.

Also, use some footwork to cover more ground.  a couple glides, a float, sac'n.  Don't let yourself stand in the same spot.  Let your liquid pull you around floor.

Hit more levels.  just standing straight up with your flow right in front of you.  A cheaters way to achieve this is to drop down to the ground and do knee spins and such, but it's not the only way.  I would trying bending to the side from the hips.  running long contours.

It takes a very wise person to welcome critiques the way u r.  tommy kai joon shameless and distortion (and others) give great critiques.  peer persure them to watch 1 of your clips every couple months.  don't listen to me.  I don't know what I'm talking about ;)  If anybody starts throwing liquid jargon at you, then ask them to explain the terms used.

VERY IMPRESSED WITH THESE CLIPS!!!!

w00t glad to see ya finally threw somethin up :). diggin it man, very nice for only 8 months and i agree with what everyone else is saying, except verbs comment about not listening to him, listen to him!

posture and speed control stand out in those clips. although with that track i felt you coud've gotten a lil(okay alot) crazier musicality wise.

you have a good hand relationship now its time to expand with bigger splits. work with longer/straighter rail paths too, it'll help you start to understand the spatial side of liquid rather than just one hand following the other.

a common practice concept you could try is to imagine yourself standing inside a big cube or sphere(or whatever) and take your flow to as many edges as you can possibly can, dont stop until you fill up that entire area with liquid :). this goes along with verbs advice to hit more levels and traveling with your liquid. the most common area people do liquid is right in front of their torso, so ideally, you'll want to keep yours away from there for the time being. cause thats a boring area unless your doing something very intricate/technical.

Thanks guys. I have been working on much more than what I demonstrated in this video, but my nerves are holding me back at the moment. I know it boils down to practice, practice, and more practice. I have some basic digits under my belt too but I mainly use it for my glove light show performances. I'll post a light show video towards the end of the week for critique.

Thanks again guys.

The led gloves were too bright for the camera so I just opted for a digitz video instead. Hope you guys can see the wave with the first knuckle. I wasn't too sure if I should included it because it was fairly subtle.

I should probably give a better introduction to myself so you guys know where I'm coming from. I've never danced up until October 09. I started with waving, gliding, and a little bit of popping. Shortly after that, I fell in love with liquid.

Lemme rewind a bit further. I've had a long history with martial arts training, about 8 years total (most of it during my teen years). You name a style and good chances I've probably had some training or exposure to it.

So yeah, that's me in a nutshell. Back to the dojo...

Yeah I love martial arts but I won't purposely put it into my dance unless the concept I'm working with could use a sprinkle of it. Every time I think about martial arts with music, I see some kid performing a kata to the Mortal Kombat theme song and it makes me criiiiiiinge. I do love getting tips and concepts to work with and not just a step-by-step tutorial (although I could use some for digits and finger tuts/boxes so I have a bigger foundation to work with).

If ya'll have anything for me, send them my way so I can chow down and digest them.
