Astro's journey!
« on: September 26, 2011, 07:53:17 PM »

Hey guys,

I finally got around to filming myself and making a journey thread. So yeah, here it is.

Astro's Liquid Dancing

I'm still new to the whole college thing but I've been finding a lot of time to practice. My dorm has enough room for me to move around, a bit better layout than my room at home. I've been trying really hard to isolate my movement and pivoting/moving my body around a single point. I think that's coming along pretty nicely. I'm still kind unsatisfied with my flow, I need to learn how to link things better, I feel like there is a lot more I can do I just don't know how to get my body there. I'd like to try incorporate more tuts and body waves.

Any critique would be greatly accepted.

Thanks guys.

Dang dude, you're good for a year! Really clear and clean straight lines. Your speed control started out really good, but towards the end you sped up for no reason. You don't have it too bad, but I think everyone who learns liquid needs this advice at some point: get the elbows out there. Your elbows generally stay folded. Extend your arms; use the full range of motion of your elbows.

Good choice of music :)

It is.

You're generally doing a really good job of linking everything and keeping your flow together. The only exceptions are 2:25 to 2:35. It is good to sometimes move your hands differently from the usual one-following-the-other way, but it is easy to lose the illusion when you do that. Symmetry like you were doing in that segment is a good way to keep some sort of relationship between the hands, but you got stuck in repeating that for a little too long.

I feel like there is a lot more I can do I just don't know how to get my body there. I'd like to try incorporate more tuts and body waves.

Keep playing around and you will get there. I think arm and body waves are what you should focus on at this point. I would suggest not looking for tutorials online, just meet up with DIST0RTI0N and have him teach you.

Btw, to embed YouTube videos on this site, just copy and paste the URL on the page of the video, not the youtu.be embed link.

Sorry for the quick reply, but this is more interesting than homework. :P

Thanks for the tips mosses, I can't figure out how to quote things right (I haven't spent much time on forums). But...

Looking back I can really see what you mean in that part at 2:25-2:35, I feel like I just kinda lost my flow and was trying to figure out where to go. It happens though. I think towards the end I getting tired and looking for more things to do.
And thanks for the tip on embeding.
Also, I've got no problem's with quick replies, I'm glad this is more interesting than homework. heh.

Thursday I'm gonna be busy until around 7, you think you guys will still be there performing then? I'd love to come down and watch you guys for a little bit.
I'll defiantly be hitting up that tutting workshop saturday. Can't wait!
