ok fast foward to may 2007, my first demf. by this time i think i had made an account on reflective and made a post or 2 lol. i think kai(or mebe itch) contacted me a day or 2 b4 lettin me check out the trailer and let me kno that floasis is about to launch, i was really excited as i hadn't been seein alot of activity on reflective and i was almost rdy to give up on improving on liquid since from my pov it was dyin fast.

so i was like yea i'm down and i'll see u guys at demf. demf came and i think i danced a total of 5-15minuites w/ the liquid heads who came lol. partly because i was running around w/ my own friends during the festival(i knew 50+ people there) and partly because i was intimidated(and with good reason, you guys were ROCKIN that shit in 07). but whenever i got a chance i'd watch you guys and try to pay attention. got opened up to a whole new world of liquid there, i had no idea there would be so many different styles and ideas beyond that of the lpc.

that demf is what really kicked it off for me. its not only the first time i saw liquid dancers, but dancers period lol. cause chicago's underground party scene was in a bit of resurgence itself. dancers are JUST NOW starting to show up at raves, they weren't around back at this point. seeing all those breakers and poppers as well as the liquid dancers i've been watching online was a mind-altering experience. and i was able to feed off the energy of all those dancers and get down better than i ever had before:

everything was pretty sloppy there i admit, but compared to how i was dancing before demf? this was a big improvement, it felt magical. and this was shot on the 3rd day, i was on NO sleep x_X.

in the following month or 2 i grew alot as i getting critiqued finally and i was able to ask alot more questions, the floasis community was booming and off to a great start. i guess i should start talking about my liquid here and stop giving u my life story. theres still not much to it at this point. my favorite liquid head out there was frequency hands down. i wanted to dance like him and a couple others(distortion/shameless) and thats it. i had no idea how i was going to accomplish that, but at this point i basically didn't care and ran with what i had:

i remember this clip being generally received well. i had improved alot for it only being a month after demf. and if u remember my demf clip was above what i was dancing at on average at that point. my basic understanding of alot of concepts were completed and i kinda think of this as my first plateu. on floasis people were noting certain things about this clip like my lankiness/arm length, and my threads. i took everything someone said i did particularlly well and started working on those exclusively. forgetting about the flaws =x.

ffw a few months, jus been practicin away, it was sometime around here i realized that i'm gonna be doing liquid forever. its just way to fun to learn and practice to stop. i didn't really end up meeting anymore liquid heads until the caves when i ran into hadouken and falsify and kai unexpectedly. sadly i only got down with them for a quick minuite and lost them when the sun went down. anywho this clip came a month after that:

umm i basically just wanted to focus on what i thought were my 3 strenghts/favorite things todo at the time with this clip. 1. repeating threads  2.splits(which had just clicked for me)  3. hand contour which kai had showed me in a short clip before he came out with his countour clip for floasis. i loved the idea and wanted to see how far i could go with it.

so up until this point(fall 2007) i've not really gotten to dance much with any other liquid heads. this changes when kai starts raving agian, after the caves he just couldn't stay away :).
after 1 or 3 shindigs i make this clip in october:

still relying on those 3 things from the previous clip heavily, but i had also been working alot with armflow at the time to help my bad posture. also my musicality starts to improve at this point as it was just piss-poor before this. i owe its improvement soley to kai. as i said before its one of his strongest characteristics as a dancer. if u've ever been in the car with him when somethin good on he's always ridin the beat with his hands and hittin every change. i've got the same habit now lol.

its october now, me and kai have been out dancin and talkin at a few more events, i had been getting in a bit of a slump and started searching for what i want todo next with my liquid. i think outta nowhere(or maybe inspired by rush's ice bar clip) i get on this old school flow/handflow kick. i start seeing more illusion in my post demf clip than i did in my last one months later, and start working on handflow and rails nonstop:

came out with that after a week+ of practicing more frequently than i had in many months. i think it was more out of frustration than anything else as i remember making this clip wasn't that enjoyable lol, and it was probably the 10th clip i had made that week. but this seems to be the best received of them all, hell i still dig it. my splits/threads take a backseat and this is mostly all just rails and handflow(using tension to smooth them out for once). i can see what people meant when they were sayin in the critique that it got repetitive, but damn i was just happy to get back alot of the illusion that i thought i had lost, and i also start moving my feet around just a tad too lol. only after 6 months of people telling me :). i like to think of this clip as a plateu as well.

standing there while some girl grinded her ass on you. EPIC. WIN.

Fixed. This will always be more enjoyable than liquid.

Wow, tommy, quite a progression in a short period of time. It seems that everyone advances much more quickly these days.
