Aeon's journey
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:13:31 PM »

Hello all. I've been around the boards for a few months now. I've lived in Los Angeles, CA for pretty much my whole life, which kinda sucks since most of best liquiders are all the way across the country. But i love living here still

I started dancing around 2-3 years ago when i first learned about shuffling and jumpstyle. i practiced very little and wasn't very good for a long time. But about a year and a half ago is when i started going to parties and clubs for the first time (as i focused a lot in high school and finally had a long vacation after graduation, I'm 19 btw). Influenced by a very talented friend who showed me this party life, i danced a lot and tried to learn as many things as i could.

While this friend is very talented he rarely helped me out, rarely broke things down to help me dance better. I had to learn through tutorials and watching other dancers.

So i went to a lot of parties and danced. At first i was highly competitive. Battling anyone i saw who had good moves i would continuously enter into circles and do my best to up the guy. Doing this every other day helped me develop popping, waving and botting very quickly, which are things i still love to do. I also really got into tecktonik. Then i discovered animation, and started to strobe/tick, slow mo, and other time concepts (now my current favorite style).

I like to throw in different moves and just feel the music. Overall i like combining ideas from different styles. I want to expand my horizon as much as possible. Thats why i've come to this site and really tried to do liquid and digitz which is amazing.

I've been digiting without knowing it for a long time. But focusing on it as a style i've only been really doing it this past 3-4 months. Same for liquid, though i've done some moves/concepts like miming and the handwave/armwave for a long time but recently focused.

Here is decent footage i finally was able to make
Freestyle Dance session

Also videos of me doing digitz but with LED gloves, or doing a lightshow. I used a lot of concepts i use for digitz/liquid, just focusing on using the lights. i will be making more videos in the future, i just wanted to start this and get opinions on my digitz so far. critiques appreciated.

i'll be living there in 2 years.  you can help me begin building an LA liquid army.

i am generally very picky about who i would let give me a light show because i am very aware of digits, and i dare i say you would be in that limited group that i would allow to entertain me with LEDs :}

Freestyle Dance session

Criticizing myself, i want to improve my stiffness for botting, better dimestops, and my illusions need some more work. overall i need more practice

bout time! :) hehe

nice clip homie. really diggin the energy level and overall movement/traveling. at some points i felt ur style had an older/llc vibe to it which was very cool to see :). and your handflow and digits are at a pretty suitable point(1:44-1:54 i liked).

biggest thing i think you should work on is just slowing down and taking your time. make presentation a priority which means cleaning/smoothing up your movement and posture. making ur stops sharper, and raising the intent level on ur movement. secondly work on opening up your hand distancing. you did a little in this clip but it wasnt nearly as clean as your small distanced flow, opening it up will also make transitioning to/from ur other styles like botting and waving much less awkward(you simply dropped your hands a few times, no bueno)

I like it! Your style is fairly unique. :)

My suggestion is to play with spatial isolation a lot more. Play with it throughout the day, see what you can do and it will make its way into your dancing more.

thanks guys!

and yes tommy, almost everything you mentioned is what i saw i need to improve too, especially slowing it down for better sharpness and stillness. As for more flow distance i've been kinda trying to get better but i'll focus more on that and keeping up my illusions. I'll try not to simply "drop" my hands, but really incorporate them into transitions

a_thing, do you mean spatial manipulation like making boxes and objects? or what exactly do you mean?
