Heya. I am one of the younger ones here, only 16. I have not been dancing long. I only started listening to music in spring 2007. I did not dance much until August (I think) 2008, when I was chilling at my friend Leo's (who I know knows kai, Tommy, and plainwhitetom and likely some other people on here but does not have an account) and he started doing liquid. I loved what I saw and he taught me basic handflow. I remember him telling me to focus on the relationship between my hands and I still remember those words from time to time. He also told me about this site, but I did not come here much until recently. From there, I started liquid dancing a bit. The first day of school later that month (my sophomore year in high school) I was waiting in line and out of boredom just started flowing (without music). From that point on it became more of a habit. I flowed around a lot in the halls and became known at my school for liquid dancing heh. :P Looking back, this may have been bad for my liquid because when you flow while walking, you cannot integrate much of your body into it other than arms. But whatever, it is fun. :)
Several weeks ago, after several weeks of chronic boredom, I decided to cure my boredom by getting more into liquid. So I have been lurking here, watching videos on YouTube, and dancing a bit.
Unfortunately I do not have a video camera and I am not sure if any of my friends do, so I cannot show much yet. All I have to show is this 15 second clip from March 2009. Someone happened to bring a boombox to school and played it during lunch. I walked by and started dancing, then of course a crowd gathered (even though I am not very good...) and someone recorded it on their cellphone.
I usually dance at home or jamming with my friends. I have not gone to any parties and danced (I would if I could) except the July Full Moon Jam in Chicago, so Leo is the only liquid dancer I know. I would love to meet some of you. I plan on going the FMJs in the future when I can. I live like a 30 to 45 minute biking distance from the Chicago Botanic Garden, so let me know whenever there is a meetup there. :)
Recently in my dancing I learned body waving and the basic digits wave. I do not have the body waving integrated well into my dance yet. I am always trying to find ways to use my entire body, not just my arms, while dancing. I tried to start tutting, but the muscles on the top of my forearms just do not shrink enough to make my wrist bend back to a right angle. :/
