Where the Kiwi's roam
« on: May 11, 2009, 12:12:37 AM »

I dug the song I was give-Cassio Bossa Nove by Holy F*ck. It was a track I def would not normally dance to. I gave it probably seven listens or so and this is what I came up with. The tracks up beat mood was prolly my favorite part of dancing to this.  Thanks for the sweet hook up :D

who was the camera man on this? i want whatever he was on ;)

this is definitely the cleanest clip uve made, and one of the best. really solid angles/contours/traces and a strong illusion overall. i've seen you wave a hell of a lot better than in this clip however. the track was represented well but could've used just a bit more energy(i still miss the explosiveness u had in ur car wash clip)

+1

Good pick Brody, I like Holy Fuck.

The thing about that whole Pitchfork Internet indie dance scene is that it is flippant and whimsical. While I'm guessing you aren't really a part of that, I think music suits your personality well. It looks like you're really just out to have fun. It looks like there's less pressure on you to live up to a track. Rather, the track lives up to you, much like Techno Viking.

As for suggestions, I think I'd like to see more top half vs. bottom half isolations, divided at the hips. Turns, shifts, etc. I think it would make everything look that much more crisp.

True that. Good job.

Agreed.

Also with tommy on the waving, except I haven't seen you wave that much. The thing that excited me about your waves was the texture you attempted to layer on them. You just didn't have the wave isolations to pull them off yet. But still really nice forward thinking that will pay off down the road as you round out the physical aspects.

Best parts for me was the way you conveyed the song. And I loved the behind the head stuff it was really neat. Made me want to mess around with that idea.

You can't fake feeling the song and you've got that and that can't be taught. Lucky for you all your messing is technical stuff that can be taught. So keep working on your control and the illusion will become clearer and clearer.

The camera work...LOL, it was her first time...I'm gona let it slide.  She watched it after and was like, i move the camera to much, and I was on that "ya think" facial expression.

So I've lost energy from my first ever clip I posted?  I think I might have become a hair self conscious of you guys.  Back around then, I didn't know anything really, didn't know anyone, and now I do.  So yeah, working on it, I thought having a person record me would help....FAIL.

tons, it had been dropping with every clip up until after ur first spring cleaning one, then it started to pick back up but the car wash one still has more energy than all the others, u went off on that one :). and it fit the song perfectly.
