Post up your favourite artists/mixes.  This is a fairly new style and it seems like a lot of people around these boards dig it.

Do her up!

Dubstep is not really a new style.. it has been around since the late eighties/early nineties. See older Meat Beat Manifesto and Scorn releases from around 1994 for an example.

wiki disagrees.

Whomever wrote it is not correct, or they are failing to mention the important influence of Dub on Dubstep.

If you have filesharing look these up:

Example #1:

The Circular Cosmic Spot by Meat Beat Manifesto

Example #2:

Scorn - Evanescence (1994)

This entire album was very similar to what modern dubstep tracks sound like today. I remember it distinctly because one of my friends in New York gave me a copy when I first started going to raves there.

LOL kai,

Our little discussion sparked a big one on Discogs.

Apparently I am not the only one who thinks dubstep tracks were created in the 90s. There are a lot of people who disagree with that sentiment, though. The jury is still out I think... especially now that Meat Beat Manifesto just came out with a new album and is touring - and the entire album is filled with Dubstep tracks.

I am not really all that knowledgeable about this genre, I am still learning about it. :)
