Dubstep is not really a new style.. it has been around since the late eighties/early nineties. See older Meat Beat Manifesto and Scorn releases from around 1994 for an example. It has always been a kind of obscure electronic music style and is only recently enjoying a lot of exposure in the US. The Dubstep explosion is already a few years past in Europe... it started to come to prominence in European underground music scene around 2005.


My favorite contemporary dubstep labels are Rag n Bone and Combat Recordings. Both are in the UK
