they need to ban americanization of quality films and shows, this is really ridiculous. Hollywood seems to be destroying legendary entertainment to make a quick buck, fucking outrageous.

If they make a remake at least stick to MOST of the old one. this might be worse than Dragonball Evolution, but thats a bar thats hard to pass

to be fair, it's not like hollywood studios are just *taking* these things and turning them to shit.  someone is *SELLING* them the rights, probably knowing full-well it's going to happen.

I heard Leonardo Dicaprio's production company was making it. It's a shame Christopher Nolen isn't directing, it might have a chance then. I heard that it's going to take place in NYC instead of Tokyo, so yeah lots of white people, maybe like one token Asian person, prob a girl.

     I just can't see them fighting in Yankee stadium yelling "Travis!" .... "Kenny!"

Oh god! Just read the review. The Hughes Brothers? Are you fucking serious?! I mean Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, From Hell, The Book of Eli, not BAD movies, but I just can't see them being up to the task of Akira. I mean a Tech 9 instead of a plasma cannon, besides the Tech 9 being a turd of a gun, WTF is a nine going to do against a giant expanding all powerful amoeba being? It can't even pierce kevlar. Soooo disappointing.

    The one plus is that there appears to be lots of Asian charcters in the script, so not as many white people as previously assumed, and Zak Effron has been dropped from the project.
