Same here. :)  I can donate some cash.

We really need to step up our game. The focal point is Liquid, so our dancing has to be sick!!

Nice nice, this is all good and well, but we need to be brainstorming.  Just shooting ideas around, things people want to see, and don't want to see.  The thing I love about this place is were all sort of one big disfunctional family.  We can come up with some really good ideas and make this a really memorable experience.  Wheres the piss and vinegar guyz?

I can bring vinegar. Balsamic and apple cider. Mmmm (yeah sometimes I do drink balsamic vinegar)

i mean really this community is centered around going out at night and dancing and mostly trying to get other people to go out at night and dance. history is more or less trivia, albeit interesting trivia. concepts can be shared through clips, so what can this liquid conference bring that isn't just a glorified version of going out at night and dancing? what can this event do to take advantage of the potentially numerous liquid practitioners in one place that will be different from demf or cave raves, that cannot be effectively replicated on the internet?

larger than average meetups are few and far between, make them count more than DEMFs of yore. because really, DEMF brought nothing to the table but good memories and some footage. how do you say 'we were here and this happened and it mattered' in a substantial effective way?

i'd want to see guerrilla street performances. not your typical cardboard and boombox, but something raw and original but not artsy fartsy. something with a little bit of fuck you. a contest, classes of course, maybe even a porno shoot. maybe it would be worthwhile to look into what other festivals and conventions offer

edit: haha wow that wwas a rant

theres not much dance-wise that can be 'effectively' replicated or communicated over the internet, this has been discussed over and over again i didnt think there was any opposition to that idea. liquid is much better taught/learned/viewed/communicated in real life.

thats part of the point of this if i understand it right, to have a LIQUID focused event not something centered aroud the event itself.

I think that if you do this the focus shouldn't just be a big expensive meet up with awesome dancers. It should be reasonably priced and promoted well.
I would also suggest that this be filmed. Then release it for free on the internet to further promote future events and liquid itself.
If the first event goes well expand it to other cities. I would support this just so that the younger generation of party kidz see what they could be doing on a dancefloor.

When I started going to parties there was always a circle somewhere on the dancefloor. The oldskoolers would be battling or just ragin it while the new kidz watched and learned.
Now when I dance I'm always hoping that someone will either come over and try to school me, or want to learn. Hopefully an event like this would such an effect.

i only ever went to DEMF because of the dancers, though, and the same held for many others. this is more or less what I was trying to say:

what can this event accomplish that isn't just an expensive meet up?

we did all of that

i mean you don't have to take my suggestion of taking this meetup to the next level and stepping up the convention game, but i'm telling you that you might have a great and rare opportunity here to do something that will make more of an impression than 'hey those were some good memories, i picked up a few extra tricks.'

If someone is going to teach something with any depth than that is going to take a lot of preparation on that person's behalf. Or else you're going to get some jv squad thing where a dude stands up in front of everyone mumbles out a random concept and is done in 5 minutes. And nobody learns anything. You need charismatic personalities delivering information.

Also this will be a sausage-fest methinks. Except for girlfriends and wives who get drug into it. Having a bunch of pretty girls running around adds a palpable energy to an event. Hire go-go dancers or girls from hooters haha. Or better yet get regular girls who don't suck to come. Sausagefest = suck. That's the number one rule to any party.
