Some things i wanna re-touch on in this thread:

maybe people can post some things they'd like to contribute and we can schedule on a case by case basis from there. for instance:

-Lucas could do a talk on regimenting dance practice? a workshop on folds? etc
-PWT could do a talk on character applied to dance
-Deviance could do a workshop on threads
etc.

Everyone start really thinking about what you bring to the table for Liquid and Digits.  Begin to analyze your strengths and turn them into a way to educate others so that we can all learn and grow together through an individual's trials and errors.

A few things I'd like to do:

-Discourse on musicality
-Intro to levers workshop
-Advanced builds workshop

A few topics I would like to speak about,

1. What makes liquid liquid and how to tell the difference.
2. The physical progression of liquid. From early 90's to now.
3. Hand me a case of beer and let me talk...i guarantee there will be a discussion....on something danced related..... eventually.

how to raise the profile of this dance to the point where events like this are self-sustainable or even profitable

If we only get six hours, we should consider maximizing our "in studio" time by
Topics I find extremely important:

Basic History
Monetizing the Dance (FREE[DOM])
Cultural Values & Defending Your Culture
The Power of the Individual
Dance as a Lense for Understanding Yourself and Your Life
How to Grow This Culture While Maintain its Integrity (Where its Going)
Isolationism
Pros and Cons of an Internet focus Dance Culture (Importance of Real World)
Unhealthy v. Healthy Competition
Respecting your Peers (HONOR)
Semantics of Dance (Pitfalls & Practical Uses)
Why our dances are Experimental (Will they always be that Way)
Importance of Training
Character v. Ego (Humility)

WHY YOU ALWAYS NEED MORE PASSION, HEART, FIRE, AND SOUL IN YOUR DANCE

Can Lucas or Eric or Tiny please chime in on how much time they would need to teach a class.

doesn't have to have times yet, just class X by dancer Y on day Z. surely you have a few people lined up, if even only yourselves and eric and tiny? then you can work on expanding the list from there.

already i see

Day X
levers by kai
builds by kai
musicality by kai

Night X
Party at A feat. DJs 1 2 and 3

Day Y
What is Liquid by LPE
Evolution of Liquid by LPE

Night Y
Party at B feat DJs 4 5 and 6

etc.

work on getting people committed to days and classes, like actively pursue them via phone/AIM, maybe they don't want to volunteer in public, it's on you guys to fill the spots

i believe we're up to 8 hours now.  Noon-8pm.  This gives us a bit more flex time.  I'd like to keep each workshop/panel down to under 30 minutes.  Anyone who wishes to participate, a) pick a topic you have a strength in and b) begin breaking it down in presentation format to see how long you're going to need (up to 30 minutes) to present.  Who knows, you may only need 15 minutes to talk about something.  You won't know until you break it down, otherwise you may slot for 30 min and be rambling for 15 of it, wasting time.  Or you may schedule for 30 but not fit everything in because of poor organization, etc.

I'd be cool with anything...house party, hotel party, park party, BOAT PARTY!!! rave party...etc!

What about a mixer... would you still be cool with a mixer?

While I do enjoy Bassnectar a bit you should probably consider that this event is the afters for a dance thing. If Bassnectar heads in Chiago are as thick as the crowd in Detroit, that place is going to be slammed, and every other party that night will have scarce attendance. That lack of attendence else where means plenty of clean dance floor space through out the city. And by clean I mean not stinking like a mix of incense, under arm, and coco butter that generally comes stock with Bassnectars grease ball neo-hippy following.

Dark Matter is a collective group of artists whose dedication is focused towards the advancement and awareness of dances found, derived from and/or connected to the electronic music dance scene. It is our hope that awareness can be achieved through event production, workshops, specialty projects and other means of artistic expression that give homage to the electronic music dance scene and the people within it.

i know what you mean kev, but look at it from the perspective of this last years' demf.  the two best dance sets of the weekend happened at the two of the most crowded sets (excision and kraak n smaak).  this is why dance circles are formed.  they are formed based on a function. that function is to seperate a space to dance in a crowded environment.  sure, we could go to scores of places that have empty dancefloors but they'll probably be empty because the music is wack.  the reason why nectars (and excisions and kraak n smacks) dancefloors are packed is because everyone wants to hear/dance to their music.  the best dancing comes out to the best music.

I like a open format best,

How about i drink 3 bottles of old English hand me a microphone and lets see what happens?

Bet i could produce some gems.....

I digress...

I have a whole host of stuff, but would do better i guess with fielding questions pertaining to the dances. So more like a Q and A.

Keep me focused and i will not go on some wild alcohol induced rant...

Then again you never know..
