Confluence 2011 pre-chatter
« on: December 13, 2010, 02:12:09 PM »

U don't think i'll loose any1 b/c they spend all their money going to Ultra?

its hard to say really..... i dont plan on spending alot on getting to confluence(provided it goes down something like last time with itch hooking up a ride) but other people might have to spend more getting there. on the other hand i dont think theres even a big group dedicated to making ultra yet. and if there is people always flake out lol.

a problem might be that ultra is the last weekend of march, so confluence would (in theory) be before that.  which means people might not even know if theyre going to flake out yet and might be sticklers about money on the hope that theyre going to ultra.

but really, who is on the ultra train this year? i know pwt wants to go...cuz he lives in florida. but who else is serious about going? i mean...a lineup isnt even out yet, lol. (not that it wont be 80% of the same people they book every year...)

I'm going to Ultra bc
1) Never been
2) Visiting LPE
3) If it is 80% of the acts than that means regardless of lineup there will be SOME good music
4) Hitting Massives up is a great way to meet other dancers and talk shop
5) Miami in March... South Beach vs. Knoxville, TN... Not hatin, just sayin

But then again it might all fall thru and I say fuck it.

Is Confluence a day thing? night thing? Do you guys go out afterwards?

Spring Massive is also in Bmore during March. It's local stomping ground for music, that'll take priority over anything else for me.

last year it was a early evening thing, djs got there kinda late. and we went to a club afterwards with some ok music(of which i was glad because i was too tired for good music, i'd have to dance more)

there was some talk earlier in the year about having the upcoming confluence at an actual club or event i duno if thats still goin on but yea. if not i hope that its earlier on in the day so we can regroup afterwards for whatevers going on that night.

personally i'd like togo to both, not sure whats gonna happen but confluence takes priority. ive been to ultra. it was fun but i'd have to say it ranks pretty low compared to other festies ive been to. and music-wise most of my favorite producers are not the pop-edm sort that gets booked there. dance wise...when i went it was before i started dancing so i cant say for sure, but i didnt really notice much skillful dancers..maybe some poi ppl but other than that its mostly kandi kids and miami bros. kai maybe u can give a better/more recent perspective on that one.

my only real reason for wanting to make it is to chill with pwt and newt.

In 2008, I went to Ultra both days, FSOB, and at least 3-4 other parties during the week.  i didnt see a single dancer (any style) except a handful of bboys at the Future Sound of Breaks party.

Not positive but Verb mentioned this could possibly be at the Headroom in Knoxville. That is an underground club in their city, and from what I understand it the titz. I would have seen it this weekend if they weren't closed both nights.

Verb you have anything to add on this?

It's looking like it's going to be early March from what I have gathered from Verb.  We've talked about it some, but I won't steal his thunder, I'll let him chime in on the major details.
