IMO we don't want wiki to become a TL;DR but a more basic version of everything. all the advanced stuff can be covered in a link saying "click here for more advanced info" and then link to some specific thread on this forum.

Sounds interesting, I'm all for it, but where would we start in archiving the timeline of the dance or even the basic explanation of what the dance is? Afterall, judging from what the various discussions we and other people on other forums have had about liquid, we still are trying to gather up all the facts on the history and development of the dance ourselves.Even some of the "pioneers" are in the dark about that stuff. But maybe having a wiki would help that problem. We'd have to have a set of facts and ideas that we ALL could agree on first if you start a wiki now. As for the chat thing, it seems a lot easier and quicker than forums,if we're going to have chat meetings on what to put in the wiki, we should do them on specific topics in a certain order:

Example:
1.Origins
2.Locations
3.Music and Fashion
4.Moves,Styles, and Scenes
5.Influence
6.Notable Dancers

Like that, you know, and have sections of the wiki for each sort of topic, and better yet, along with the references and links to things like articles and interviews, we should also have transcripts of the various chats we had on each topic, so this way, people can read and understand how we all came to the conclusion we did. ::)

i infact do want it to be tl;dr. i'm tired of this dance being a such a word of mouth thing. we need to put the information we've got into something presentable and legitamate rather than have it scattered all over an internet forum. i do get your point though, and thats why we will try to have all the topics start out as basic as possible, then expand to advanced. but thats just another topic that will be covered in the first chat sessions, as well as categories. like i said this thread is just a heads up. no need to start listing out categories and stuff just yet.

great point about categorical breakdowns.  certainly a 'must-have' in any wiki.  I think peeking into other dances wikis might give us a heads up on what ours could look like.  here are some examples:

Quote
ballet
1 History
2 Classical ballet
3 Neoclassical ballet
4 Contemporary ballet
5 See also
6 Notes
7 References
8 External links

Quote
Tap Dance
1 History
2 Characteristics of tap dance
3 References
4 External links

Quote
breakdancing
1 Origins: From street to dance
2 Dance techniques
2.1 Music
2.2 Fashion
2.3 Stage shows
2.4 Media exposure
3 Gender Inequalities
4 Battles
5 Crews
6 Controversy
7 Pop-culture references
7.1 Music videos
7.2 Films and television shows
7.3 Video games
7.4 Other media
8 Notes
9 References
10 External links

Quote
Popping
1 History
2 Terminology
3 Characteristics
4 Music
5 Related styles and techniques
6 Notable poppers
6.1 Famous artist whose style is related to popping
7 References and notes
8 See also

The peices which i'd personally like to see in the Liquid and Digitz wikis include, but are not necessarily limited to:

-Summary
-History (including controversial discussion on waving and cultural implications of such)
-Characteristics (perhaps could be covered in Summary)
-Terminology

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_dancing

The liquid wikipedia entry is an interesting note, I think it works kind of well in describing what the term liquid dancing pertains to now. You know, the common sort of idea that pops into ones head when they hear the word liquid dance, but it doesn't suit well with me because to me, as many of you have read from my posts, the dance is actually a multitude of dances mixed together. And I have presented some  clips before in the small issue thread on  various liquid dance practices being done by cultures related to rave culture before its conception, so we'd have to kind of have a section on that so as to arrive at a conclusion as to whether or not those dances were indeed liquid or JUST an influence.

My suggestion would be having a main section with a summary of each topic, then right at the beginning have a link/colored text leading to a more thorough examination of the topic.

Example:

Origins

----------
See:Origins of Liquid Dance

Although Liquid dancing first described blah blah blah.......

I wouldn't like to use the word origins. History is better imo. That way you can show the progression. I already threw my idea out in the other thread about organic vs. inorganic liquid history (it doesn't have to sound so pretentious haha we could set it up another way). But the division between before the internet and after the internet is important. After all as Itch pointed out in the other thread the flow definition/concept is primarily from the inorganic section of internet liquid history. And liquidwave32's research needs to be fit in somehow, but before I go off rambling...

when's the chat meetup?

that's is a good question, when would the chat take place?

to birdage: yeah, history probably would be a better term. This way we could cover the whole shibangabang rather than just the starting point.

Who would manage the wiki, should it be hosted on floasis or some other site. Or maybe myspace, lol? :P
