Tutting Freestyle
« on: January 22, 2011, 11:08:59 PM »

So I've been working on my tutting lately I will work more on digits and stuff

Tutting Freestyle

I know its a digits and liquid forum but I thought I would hear more interesting feedback unlike another site that is just full of drama and the same 7 posters lol.

Also Im gonna start doing liquid, I notice its a very good transition style. What do you recommend I watch and any beginner tips? I wanna build a strong foundation so i don't branch off into liquid misguided.

I'm digging it! You put in work from your last video.

I'm about to go into an opinion piece here so bear with me lol:

I really think geometric body positions are the future of tutting and hold a lot of promise for liquid too. In a way liquid and tutting are two sides of the same coin for me. In tutting the lines are explicit whereas in liquid the lines are implied. Different expressions of the same idea.

So you've got your ground geometric positions on lock (a lil' awkward but those positions are hard to pull off especially pulling the leg through like that). But you didn't use any upright geometric positions. The handwave was cool also... but if it's going to be liquid you've got to mime a line or give substance to the space around you. You used it more like a popper uses it as a trick.

Anyways i was excited to see those full body geometric positions. I'm going to put out a tutting video soon doing some I've come up with. So if you stick around it would be cool to bounce some ideas back in forth.

Yeah man I definitely plan to stick around, this forum has alot of hidden gems here and its full of thoughtful conversation rather than constant bashing which I'm tired of seeing. And as for bouncing ideas back and forth if you can come up with some sick concepts with body geometric tutting I'd be more than willing to trade concepts.

"(a lil' awkward but those positions are hard to pull off especially pulling the leg through like that"

I was kinda confused by this part. but thanks man for subscribing.

Well actually the only person I've seen pull it off in an aesthetically pleasing manner is skywalker... but even in this clip he still loses his balance some of the time. When he doesn't lose his balance it's spot on:

Skywalker

That's what I'm saying it's a hard move to make not look awkward. I use the same movement but it still looks bad even after 4 years of doing it.

But I'm speaking strictly in aesthetic terms which means not just doing the movement but doing the movement in a natural way. It has a lot to do with the range of motion and balance... like your not trying.

I can't give you any advice though. I can't do it in a natural manner myself. Maybe you can figure it out...

nice, only critique i have is to up the isolation and make it look more robotic
