Looking for advice =]
« on: January 25, 2011, 05:23:27 AM »

I have been dancing for about 2 years now, and dancing liquid for about 6 months and my good friend Liquid Rush sent me here. I have a feeling I am going to be on her a lot.

Before anyone says it, I know I'm not that good, hence why I'm asking for help.

Liquid Pop/Digitz

Please, please, please watch it and give me some advice, I would really like to become good at liquid.

you seem to want to work robotics into it. practice robot isolations, but without all the variation and speed changes. just simple basic movements and sequences with clean isolation and dimestops. waves need the same kind of work. get that foundation down.

flow-wise, i don't feel like typing up a big long thing but there's plenty of info around and feel free to hit me up via PM w/your chat sn.

I didnt see anything resembling robotics. Just because people are stop motion, or speed changing doesnt mean its robot. He looks more on a path to pursue waving with his liquid.

Your waves are really nice. I like them.

My advice for what you actually did:

When you hit those speed changes with your body really dimestop. The stop and stillness afterward is what creates the illusion. You've got to find the sweet spot before you move again. It'll probably feel like at an eternity physically so you might have to go against that itch to move. Same with the head iso. Stillness creates the illusion as well as moving one thing at a time, isolation. Either you broke the illusion to go with the music or you need to practice it some more to make it look better.

What you didn't do:

You didn't use your body enough... but you were in a constrained space so whatever. Just keep in mind the simple act of changing levels can add so much to what you're doing to keep it from being boring. (Boring is relative since you're on a dance site. People here have seen a bunch and get bored easier as opposed to a club or whatever.)

Anyways your waves are really good and your strongest point so stick with those.

Great start, I like your style! In some ways you have great musicality but you need to pay more attention to the mood of the music. Save your most energetic dancing for when the music is at its peaks. Also, work on isolation, especially with your armwaves. You usually drop an arm after the wave goes through it; keep it in place.

I am from Australia, QLD, Gold Coast. As I said, I have been dancing for about 2 years, I first really started dancing because of Liquid Rush, who taught a class that I was in, he left and me and my friend took over the class, we loved it never looked back. I got into liquid specificly, because one day I decided I wanted to improve my hand flow, and I just caught the bug I guess. I found this site when I asked Rush, to try and critque and give me some pointers on my liquid, and he said on her is the best place for my dancing to be critiqued and I love the community, because I know very few people who dance liquid digits. And I am 16.

wow!  6 months?!  dope!  but u hit some of the same paths over and over again.  try some contours and splits.  change up your hand distancing.  I agree with birdage on levels.  I would also add footwork.  record your next clip outdoors for us, so we can see even more of what u r capable of.

the guy that posted this and all the other lpc clips on youtube was trying to do a good thing but he pisses me off b/c the audio and video don't match up.
