Learning to liquid
« on: March 27, 2011, 05:50:31 PM »

So I've been dancing for about 6 months and this is where im at currently,
liquid

liquid 2

liquid 3

Thoughts? advice? Ive been told I need to let my liquid flow through my body more which is proving kinda difficult so any advice on that would be great:)

whoa u signed up quick lol, before i even finished my round of youtube comments

(hopefully) more critiques will come in later, sunday is typically slow around here.

not even sure what 'let liquid flow through ur body' means exactly, but this is what i say u should work on.

-slow down and clean up your handflow, fingerwaves, splits, etc. proper technique can be found on several videos here: http://www.reddit.com/r/liquiddance/ drill it up(but dont confine yourself to videos on only those subjects)

- your flow is mostly confined to your front torso right now. take it other places namely your sides, behind your back, over your head, to your legs, and the ground.

-try to be less repetitive and do more continuous flow paths.

but yea not bad for 6 months and having (i'm assuming) little to no instruction. thats about where i was at 6 months right before joining this site. its really not hard get to an intermediate level and beyond as long as you put in the time and effort...welcome and hope u stay awhile :)

It's good to see more newbies like me coming onto this site! This site is the best thing to happen to me since I started dancing.

I started by learning the basic hand wave and kinda just took it from there. everything I do is self taught after that so thats why I imagine it looks pretty sloppy. Whatever I can do to make my liquid better tho I'll do so thats why I joined so quick haha

to me the mask says Jabbawockees.  maybe you didnt get it from them, but i think in the dance world that mask in particular is associated with that troupe.

masks have shown to be a great addition to the performance arts over the ages.  i'm down with the mask, just make it your own.  it's unfortunate that such a simple blank mask has been socially 'claimed' but unfortunately that's the truth of the situation.

+1, if you or whatnhuh happen to catch any other beginners on youtube or around your local area i really hope you guys point them in our direction. i dont really hop on youtube as much as i used to and imo its a great thing to have other peers that you can grow, progress, and share ideas with.
